Old number needs to be registered on WhatsApp

- Open WhatsApp in the phone

- Go to settings if you are an iPhone user.

- If you are an Android user, touch the three dots given above in the app

- Now, go to Change Number by tapping on Account Options

- There you will see a screen to confirm that you can receive calls and SMS to the new number.

- After confirming, tap on Next button

- Now enter your old and new number

If this malware has entered your phone, then the virus reaches the phones of those who message you as a reply. Well known security researcher has given this information by releasing a video.

How malware is spreading

Security firm ESET's Lukas Stefanko wrote on his Twitter handle, "If a WhatsApp message notification arrives on an infected phone, a link from the phone immediately goes to reply. This link is to a fake Google Play page asking users to download a Malaysian app. A user gets a link once an hour. This could be a subscription or adware scam. ' This is a fake Huawei app designed with the intention of seeing ads on infected devices and making money for app distributors.

In an ESET blog post, Stefanko told one of his colleagues that the malware could deliver something more dangerous because the message text and malicious application were sent from the attacker's server. This malware can spread to banking trojans, ransomware or spyware.

How to avoid malware?

Before downloading any application to prevent this malware, make sure that the application is only installed from your phone from the official Google Play Store. For this the settings in the phone are different.

But usually you have to go to Settings> Apps> Special Access> Install Unknown Apps. After this, make sure that no application is allowed to download any other application in your phone.
