According to the complaint lodged by Hetal Nileshbhai Lathia, a resident of Bapa Sitaram Chowk, Ramnagar-1, she was at home on the afternoon of last 18th. Then a monk came home under the pretext of drinking water. After giving water, he approached the monk and told him that he had a physical illness. He said that in order for the monk to get rid of the physical ailment, he would have to perform a ritual. The monk believed in this and showed readiness to perform the ritual. So he said that the monk would have to keep gold and silver ornaments in the house for such a ceremony.

Speaking of jewelery, the monk had brought a total of 19 tolas of gold and silver jewelery worth Rs 5.81 lakh. The monk later drank water on the pretext of the ritual. She fainted after drinking the water. When he came to his senses, neither the monk nor the gold and silver ornaments given to him were found in the house. So the person who became a monk came to know that he was a cheater and that he had snatched the jewelery.
