Covishield vs Covaxin: Before taking the Covishield and Covaxin vaccine you need to know the difference between the two.

Covishield and Covaxin: Vaccination of all people over the age of 18 in the country is starting from May 1.  Registration for the vaccination can be made on the Co-Win application from 28 April.  Currently only two vaccines, Covishield and Covacin, are available.  People between the ages of 18 and 45 will have to get vaccinated at private or government centers.  Some states have also announced free vaccinations.  Before you decide which vaccine to take, you need to know about Covishield and Covaxin.

 1) Covishield- Covishield

 The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is being developed by the Serum Institute of India.  This vaccine has been developed by inactivating adenovirus.  Prepared using genetic material on the spine protein of SARS-CoV-2 on adenovirus.

 How does Covishield work?

 When a patient receives a dose of the vaccine, it prepares the immune system to begin production of antibodies and to attack any coronavirus infection.

 How effective is Covishield?

 The average effectiveness of Covishield is 70 percent.  However it can be more than 90 percent when given a full dose after one month.

 Storage

 Covishield vaccine can be stored at a temperature of 2-8 degrees Celsius.

 Price

 The serum institute will provide the vaccine to states at Rs 400 and to private hospitals at Rs 600.  The central government gets a dose of Rs 150.

 2) Covaxin - Covaxin

 Covacin is an inactivated vaccine, meaning it is made from a dead corona virus.  Indian company Bharat Biotech and ICMR covexin have been developed.  In this, the immune cells ask the immune system to make antibodies against the corona virus. In this, the immune cells promote the immune system to make antibodies against the corona virus.

 How does covexin work?

 According to a New York Times report, SARS-CoV-2 prepares the immune system to produce antibodies against the corona virus at the time of vaccination.  Antibodies bind to viral proteins, such as spike proteins that stud its surface.

 How effective is covexin?

 Covacin has been shown to have 78% efficacy in the second interim analysis and 100% efficacy against severe COVID-19 diseases.

 Storage

 Covacin can be stored at a temperature of 2-8 degrees Celsius.
