Suryashakit Kisan Yojana / SKY Yojana 2020-21

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijaybhai Rupani: -Gujarat will be proud to be the first country in the country to implement solar energy production in its own farm with solar panels. Farmers will have to pay 50 per cent subsidy from the Central and State Governments. Farmers in the state will get 12 hours of electricity.


The state government will take a cheap interest loan of 75% on behalf of the farmer for 3 years. The state government will purchase additional electricity from the beneficiary farmer for 6 years. Included in 17 feeder 'Sky' pilot projects in all 6 districts of the state. 2 per unit and for the remaining 15 years Rs. The government will buy electricity at the price of 2.50 per unit.

The state government led by Chief Minister Shri Vijaybhai Rupani and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Nitinbhai Patel has announced Suryashakit Kisan Yojana SKY, an important Kisan Hitkari Yojana which will open new doors of irrigation and agriculture as well as economic prosperity to the farmers through solar energy.


Announcing the scheme, the Chief Minister said that the farmers of Gujarat have the potential to grow gold from the earth with the help of Bavda and the culmination of hard work. The state government has provided adequate electricity, water, fertilizer and modern agricultural knowledge to the farmers to double the agricultural growth rate. Now this new scheme has been launched to lead the sons of the earth towards economic prosperity through more irrigation and sale of surplus electricity by utilizing solar energy for energy production for agricultural consumption.

In the presence of the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of State for Energy, Minister of Energy Shri Saurabhbhai Patel gave detailed information about the usefulness and features of this Sky Scheme to the media today. The Minister of Energy said that the practice of Chief Minister Shri Vijaybhai Rupani's benevolent sympathy has been announced by the state government. The scheme is to complement the Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi's resolve to double the income of farmers by the year 2018.


The Minister said that maximum production of solar power in Gujarat has taken place under the visionary leadership of the present Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi during his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat. With this solar energy, the sons of the state can now generate agricultural power on their own farms and use it for irrigation. The benevolent intention is of this Sky Scheme, added the Energy Minister. Giving a detailed introduction of this Sky Scheme, Shri Saurabhbhai Patel said that Sky-Surya Shakit Kisan Yojana will be a high flight of development for the sons of the earth.

Mr. Saurabhbhai Patel also said that the investment made by the sons of the earth to avail the benefits of Sky Yojana will be repaid within 8 to 12 months through the sale of additional electricity. The minister said that this solar energy will provide water to the farmers' fields during the day as well as provide 12 hours of electricity and also earn more through Rani electricity.

Describing the features of Suryash Kit Kisan Yojana SKY, the Energy Minister said that the feeders from which farmers in the state currently get electricity use unconventional sources like coal, gas, etc. for power generation. Now with solar energy, the farmer gets this solar energy directly in his field and he will get pollution free clean energy.


This will be an important scheme for the farmers with Krishi Vij connection as the solar panels will be provided to the farmers to get power generation from the solar kit in their farm, he added. He gave a detailed outline of Suryashakit Kisan Yojana and said that for the farmers with Krishi Vij connection. This is a farmer welfare scheme.

Farmers will be provided solar panels to generate electricity from solar energy in their farms. If any farmer has already registered an application on Sky Feeder and wants to join the scheme, he will be given electricity connection on an immediate basis. It will be more beneficial for all farmers coming to the feeder to join the scheme. Five (5) per cent of the total lesser expenses will have to be reimbursed but if more amount has to be reimbursed, it will be reimbursed. The higher the amount, the less the loan will have to be taken and the higher the income due to it. The Central and State Governments will pay 50 per cent as subsidy.


On behalf of the farmer, the state government will take the remaining 25 per cent loan at a cheap interest rate. The loan period will be 7 (seven) years. One and a half kilowatt solar panel will be provided per horse power. (I.e. 125 kW panel will be provided for 10 HP connection) 10 x 10 feet space will be required as per solar capacity per kilowatt. If any farmer wants to install more kW panel, it will be allowed subject to rules.

Out of which Rs. 4.50 per unit will be paid by the power distribution company and the remaining Rs. 4.50 per unit (within the limit of 1000 units per kWh per annum) will be paid to the farmer by the State Government in the form of subsidy. For the remaining 15 years after completion, for each unit of electricity supplied to the grid, the farmer is paid Rs. 2.50 per unit will be paid.
