The feature is available first to those who have the latest WhatsApp iOS and Android Beta update installed. One needs to install the 2.20.50.25 iOS beta update from Test Flight and the 2.20.133 beta from Google Play for the feature to work. Other participants will only be able to join the call if they are on the same versions installed.

WhatsApp’s vast majority of users are consumers (individuals), while Zoom is primarily a corporate solution and its issues do have a direct impact on corporates,” said Rahul Matthan, partner at Trilegal, who heads technology practice for firms.

Several Indian companies offering a similar service have also seen a consumption spike in their products. Bengaluru-based startup Airmeet, which does conferences online, has seen time spent on its platform jump from 500 minutes per day in February to 500,000 minutes per day now.
